The Fagervik iron works

In 1646 Carl Billsten founded the Fagervik iron works alongside a beautiful lake. The three-storey manor house (with its own ghost, the Blue Lady) is surrounded by a French garden. Both the king of Sweden, Gustavus III, as well as the emperor of Russia, Alexander I, have stayed here overnight (in 1775 and 1819).

In the wooden church you can find the oldest church–organ in original condition and a special gallery for the gentlefolk.
Red ochre worker’s cottages line the narrow street leading to the iron works. There is a guided route, an information board and a cosy café in the old rectory.
